There’s no denying that the brain is the most important muscle in your body. We all know the critical functions that our brains perform to help us grow, learn, and maintain proper health. However, how often do we think about brain nutrition and the possibility of vital nutrient deficiencies? In order to maintain proper brain […]

Increase Strength With Eccentric Hook Training

The eccentric phase of a lift occurs when the muscle lengthens. This action occurs during the down motion of the bench press, biceps curl or squat. Most personal trainers will agree that when it comes to strength training, your body is stronger during the eccentric movement. Think about it — you can lower more weight in […]

Don’t Fear The Deadlift

Are you afraid or intimidated by the deadlift? Why is the deadlift commonly avoided? If you are not regularly doing a form of deadlift as part of your weight-training program — it is time to add it to your routine! Unfortunately, the deadlift often gets a bad rap from coaches, trainers and athletes who claim […]

Deadlifts: Proper Technique Equals Results

When it comes to deadlifting correctly and maximizing your results, several things need to be understood in order to avoid the most common mistakes. The deadlift is a posterior chain movement. Period. Personal trainers know that many football, basketball and hockey coaches make the mistake of teaching deadlifts as a squat — telling you to […]

The Benefits of Eccentric Weight Training

I love to use slow eccentrics when designing training programs. Eccentric training focuses on the active contraction of a muscle occurring simultaneously with the lengthening of the muscle. For example, during a biceps curl the action of lowering the dumbbell back down from the lift is the eccentric phase of that exercise. There is a vast amount of research pinpointing that […]

It’s Time to Rethink Your Cardio Training

Let’s focus on cardiovascular training and where most people make mistakes when trying to burn fat and lose weight. Most personal trainers will agree that low intensity cardiovascular work is a great start if you have been sedentary for a long time. However, the biggest issue with low intensity cardio training is that your body […]

Should I Be Eating Organic?

Organic food is always superior to conventional food. Scientific studies show that organic fruits and vegetables generally contain less toxic pesticides and herbicides than conventional produce. Eating organic meat and animal products helps you to avoid the effects of consuming foods that have been treated with antibiotics and growth hormones. If your budget won’t allow […]

Are Your Painkillers Causing You Pain?

Kidney disease, liver disease, erectile dysfunction and digestion issues such as irritable bowel syndrome are among the few potential side effects of ingesting painkillers on a regular basis. 12 weeks ago, I joined BBC to gain strength and lose fat. I had major surgery in July of last year that left me very week. I met with Nick and put a plan together for nutrition and exercise with measurable goals. I’ve worked very hard under the watchful eye of Ann Marie, and met all my goals. I not only don’t want to lose what I gained, I want to take it to the next level. All of the staff at BBC are so supportive, it really is something I look forward to. I never dreamed that at 62, surviving lung cancer, I’d be in the best shape of my life. So now I reach higher. Great facility, people and program.read more
