Today I wanted to speak briefly on how important it is to make time to stretch every week. Remember, gains are made from recovering from the training not the actually training sessions. Stretching facilitates recovery and keeps you injury free so you can continue to push your body to the limit.
Understanding how to breathe is crucial when stretching. Our muscles contract every time we take a breath in and relax every time we exhale. It’s very important to use a stretch wave when going through a stretching routine. This means inhaling before the stretch and exhaling during the stretch, working your breath at different angles.
Stretching should follow a logical order. It should be pain-free, and it should target the entire joint. Please check out my stretch video on how to successfully use the Core 4 (free download) when stretching. If ever pressed for time doing the core 4 is the biggest bang for your buck.
