Learn More To Earn More: The Benefits Of Continuing Education
At Body By Choice, all staff are required to take bi-annual continuing education courses in order to provide a better service to our members.
Our goal is to provide the best training in our area, which means keeping current on methodology and techniques in the field of physical training, exercise, and health. The only way to achieve this is to put together a dedicated staff willing to invest in itself each year. The investment always comes back in the form of more business and more opportunities to serve our clients in achieving a healthier lifestyle and improved performance. This revenue generating tip always works and applies to any profession. We are calling this our “learn more to earn more” philosophy.
My most recent learning experience took place in Montreal, Canada, where I had the pleasure of doing a private internship with one of the smartest minds in the industry, Christian Maurice. Christian physically trains actors and actresses for their upcoming movies and TV shows. He also works with the general population and uses the Biosignature Modulation to improve sleep, digestion, energy, lower stress and to design individualized nutrition and training programs. The Biosignature is one of the main services we offer at Body By Choice, and it is a game changer when it comes to offering an individualized high quality training experience. It helps our clients to stay lean, healthy and strong and gives an extra edge to athletic performance.
While in Montreal, I also had the privilege of working with Tommy Poulin, who is an outstanding osteopath, working with patients on improving their issues with muscle tissue and bones. Tommy provided me with excellent knowledge on manual therapy techniques which will help facilitate the body in the healing process. Finally, I spent some time with Yves Nadeau who specializes in energy system training for athletes. He provided great periodization documents that will allow us to better train our athletes for competition, matching the energy system demands of the sport being trained. Yves’ resume and track record speak for themselves, as his athletes have won 203 medals between the Olympics and World Championships throughout the year.
Our goal at Body By Choice is to give you the tools to sustain life-long habits that promote a healthy lifestyle and lower disease risk.
We care about each and every member and have created a family-like atmosphere at BBCT. Our market can often seem to be saturated with bad advice and training that does not match what the individual client needs. This is just another reason why every staff member here keeps up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in our field with continuing education courses and trainings. Feel free to ask any one of us about what we are learning!
Top Two Tips from Christian Maurice
1. There is no perfect diet. Most individuals do well on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet, but some do better on a higher – low glycemic carbohydrate diet. We can most effectively measure this through the Biosignature from consult to consult looking at percentage drops. You must also know what the client is willing to do before advising them. We want long term sustainable results, not short term results that many achieve with fad dieting.
2. The complexity of hormones such as insulin, cortisol, growth hormone, and estrogen greatly matters. In order to be a good practitioner, you must understand how these hormones work and know how to identify the symptoms of an imbalance. The Biosignature points out hormonal imbalances and gives direction on what to address with the client. Many individuals that have tried everything to lose weight or gain lean mass and have failed, usually have an imbalance of some sort, which needs to be addressed in order to have lasting results.
