How To Stay In Shape On Vacation
Don’t allow vacation mode to sabotage your weight loss goals.
While traveling is fun and relaxing, it can often hinder our consistency for weight loss and/or strength training.
The weather is warming up and that means summer vacations are near. A lot of people will go to hotels, resorts or cottages and that simply don’t have sufficient exercise equipment.
Regardless of where you go, the one thing you can do always do is sprint training.

Sprint training not only burns fat, but also increases muscle mass. When people take vacations or travel they have things they want to see and do, but sprinting is something that can be done quickly and with great intensity.
Sprinting is something that can be done on any type of surface whether it is pavement, grass, or sand, which makes it very convenient for anyone.
According to a study*, “Sprint Interval Training may evoke a thermogenic response above and beyond the estimates required for prevention of weight gain.” The study also showed that Sprint Interval Training also had implications for healthy body weight maintenance.
Sprinting is going fast at a maximal or near maximal speed that your body can go for a short distance. You can do sprinting multiple ways.
The most effective methods are as follows:
- multiple sprints at the same distance
- multiple springs at descending distances
I prefer descending distances the most, which means you can start with your first sprint at 400 meters and end at 100 meters. You may do multiples at each distance, but I would decrease by 100 meters at a time.
The reason why you would start with the longer distance first is because in the beginning you will have the most energy. When your energy levels start decreasing your sprinting distance will too. This will allow your body to balance out the energy with the distance.
Don’t let traveling and vacations prevent you from staying in shape this summer. Always pack your running shoes and stay in shape!
