How To Support Your Monthly Menstrual Cycle
Hormones fluctuate in your cycle and there are ways to help support the transition in your cycle so your body can do it well and efficiently. There has been research done on seed cycling for women’s cycles via Dr. Jolene Brighten. There is not a specific “study” done on women, but there are many benefits for women if they do this during their cycle.
This is what a normal cycle for a woman would look like:
- Follicular Phase – Ovulation (Days 1-14): eat 1-2 tablespoons each of raw, fresh ground flaxseeds and pumpkin seeds
- Ovulation-Luteal Phase (Days 15-28): eat 1-2 tablespoons each of raw, fresh ground sunflower and sesame seeds
Each of the seeds have properties that can help your hormones be balanced throughout your cycle. Here are what each does below:
- Flaxseed and Pumpkin seeds – support estrogen production and metabolism
- Sunflower and Sesame Seeds – support progesterone levels
There are more studies on the importance and nutrition of seeds and such. For example seeds have been studied to help lower your cholesterol and support cardiovascular health, but for understanding why/how to use them for your cycle, the properties listed above of these seeds are what you want to know.
If your cycle is not in the 28 day window, you change after you ovulate. Seed cycling is not a solve all, but is there to help support your overall cycle health.
